About the Flagathon
Every Independence Day, Bengaluru gathers to carry a National Flag as long as India is old — 79 metres for 79 years of freedom.
The column moves as one body behind the flag, at a slow, dignified pace. Children, grandparents, students, colleagues — everyone keeps step. There is no race, no finish line to beat.
Open to all ages. Free to participate.

The route
Saturday, 15 August 2026 — the 80th Independence Day.

The flag
Our flag is handled in complete accordance with the Flag Code of India. It never touches the ground, and it is carried by 110 trained bearers in eight sections.
